Historical Background
The firm was established in 1992, in the aftermath of the First Gulf War, under the name Gulf Group for Compensation, by Counselor Taha Abou El Khair, former Vice President of the Constitutional Court, Prof. Dr. Mostafa Salem, and Professor John Grand, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Professor of Law at the University of Glasgow, with two main branches in Scotland and Alexandria.
The group provided legal consultancy to the Government of Kuwait in international law regarding compensation for those affected by the war and Kuwaiti prisoners in Iraq. It also assisted individuals affected by the war in obtaining compensation from the United Nations, allocated for that purpose.
Following the passing of Counselor Taha Abou El Khair, the group was re-established with the joining of Prof. Dr. Jaafar Abdel Salam, Professor of International Law.
The group then began operating in the field of international law and arbitration, serving for many years as a bridge of cooperation for joint ventures between businessmen and investors in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Egypt, and participated in numerous arbitration cases, both as lawyers and arbitrators.
In 2011, the group was restructured under its current name:
"Rights International Group for Advocacy, Legal Consultancy, and Arbitration."
